Two slightly earlier Federal houses similarly engaging for the lively variety in detailing and, taking into account the chimney placement, their interior organization space. Neither house was long occupied by those who built them: Potter (above, 26 John Street) was a housewright sometimes associated with John Holden Greene, as hinted by the entrance frame, a variation on those found at 20-22 and 25-27 John Street.
