This big, burly building, originally a double house, is typical of the swaggering dwellings that lined this street in the last quarter of the nineteenth century. Each elevation undulates across porches, bay windows, and dormers in the creation of a highly animated, yet highly controlled wall surface. This combination of elaboration and control typifies architecture of the third quarter of the nineteenth century. Baker seems to have built this as an investment income-producing property.
