Another good house and another good story, and more cheerful in both ways than the Barnaby House (299 Broadway). Boyden engaged Gould & Angell to design this compactly massed, delightfully detailed Queen Anne house. A dry goods merchant, Boyden expanded his horizons by moving into the amusement-park business, developing Crescent Park, a bayside amusement park overlooking the upper section of Narragansett Bay from East Providence. A significant fragment survives today as the Crescent Park Carousel, now a National Historic Landmark worth a visit by any serious recreational tourist.
