The complex geometries of the Smith House offer a telling juxtaposition to the continued mass of the Knight House across the street, especially as both were built about the same time. The Smith House is a handsome reminder of the popularity and longevity of the Queen Anne/Colonial Revival mode in Providence, incorporating the spatial organization and massing of the former with the detailing of the latter. Smith owned an engraving company.
