Built for a painter, this is another typical Providence Greek Revival house, 2 1/2 stories high with a 3-bay façade, side-hall plan, and pedimented gable end to the street. A particularly nice detail on the façade is the use of shallow pediments over the windows. It originally stood a couple of blocks east of here on the south side of Bowen Street and was moved here just after World War II when Andrews Hall completed the north end of the Pembroke Campus at Brown. The house was originally much smaller than what we see here, with a 2-story 1-bay addition to the west and extensive additions to the rear.
