The Judson Blake House is named for its first inhabitant, a cabinet-maker who bought the land from Ebenezer Knight Dexter in 1822. Blake built the Federal-style home, but only lived on the land for roughly three years, from 1822 to 1825.

In 1933, Sarah Coffin (maiden name Sarah Olney) and her husband Seth bought the home. It stayed within the Coffin family for over 30 years, until Sarah and Seth’s son, Shubael Coffin, passed away in 1868. In his will, Shubael left the home to Hannah C. Vickery: “She [Hannah] having been in our family 16 years a constant and faithful attendant and considered one of the family…” Vickery lived in the home until her death in 1896.

Ownership of the 2.5 story home then changed hands a number of times throughout the 20th century.
