In this first crack at a difficult site (see General Ambrose E. Burnside House), Alfred Stone used an angle rather than a curve to negotiate the corner. The angularity appropriately reinforces this Modern Gothic house’s geometry. Mrs. Hall, whose husband had been a much-admired pastor of the First Congregational Church, was recently widowed when this house, a gift of congregants and friends, was built.
