More Neo-Traditionalism, but this time visible from many vantage points around the city, Nichols Partnership’s Westin Hotel (now Omni Hotel Providence) is yet another bland addition to the city’s growing recent collection of buildings seemingly designed not to offend. The adjacent Convention Center, on the other hand, performs acrobatics over an existing street system and presents a crisp modern face on Fountain Street. It’s particularly nice at night, when it gives a glowing presence on the street and makes a fine terminus for the north end of Mathewson Street.
