Unlike South Street Station (Narragansett Electric Lighting Company), this monumental early twentieth-century Georgian power house remains functional, as the network of power lines and the constant glow from its windows attest. The Post-Modern 1990s addition by William D. Warner Architects & Planners is a nice complement to the original building, especially in its continuing exaltation; the matched cadence of the building massing and chimneys has a fine rhythm, best seen from the east bank of the Providence River.
