This tentatively Modern Gothic building by Alpheus Morse originally housed the university’s chemistry laboratories, a further specialization of use following the construction of Rhode Island Hall more than twenty years earlier. Today it is the frontispiece for Salomon Center (Good/Clancy of Boston, architects), a large auditorium that gave Brown for the first time a large gathering space for its many public programs.
