Alpheus Morse is no doubt the architect of this large house for the owner of the world’s largest bleachery, Moshassuck Bleachery in Lincoln. Just at the time this house was built, Sayles was involved with Morse in the design of Sayles Hall at Brown. The design here is robust Second Empire, with bold detail and a fine balustraded terrace that extends the arrival experience from the iron-and-granite encircling fence at the street to the front door.
